LJ Entry – “Creating a Story From Scratch”

My brain feels a bit fried these days.  I recently took it upon myself to create a story / novella based on characters and ‘virtual’ friends found at a specific blog I frequent. Now into the first 5000 words, people from all over the world have read it (and are starring in it as well).

Here’s the challenge: Can somebody create an engaging, logical story arc on the fly, using characters with avatar elements and ever-changing language and suggestions from a group of people that are only words on a screen?  So far, the response has been pretty positive while setting up the characters and the location, but now I have to buckle down and “stay on target” for a satisfying read.  A bit more challenging than your basic Shakespearean sonnet or limerick. [cross fingers, rub lucky rabbit’s foot, belt back a shot of soju].
