About

I live in Hampton Roads, VA, at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay.  I spend a lot of my time doing public safety-oriented stuff, or writing really bad poetry and cheesy romance fiction.  I’m proud to say I owned my house for ten years and never used the oven.

My literary influences include Roger Zelazny, Robert A. Heinlein Stephen King, Edgar Allen Poe, and most public domain classics.  I have to blame my father for my love of serial romances, though, especially those little red-spined monthly reads…

I am a fan of Asian live-action and animated television series, most notably Korean Dramas and Japanese anime.

My first forays into the audiovisual world include:
  • First 45 record: Dusty Springfield’s “Son of a Preacher Man”.
  • First 8-track tape : The Muppet Movie soundtrack
  • First full-length vinyl album: The Empire Strikes Back soundtrack.
  • First CD: Greatest Hits of the Charlie Daniels Band
  • First DVD: Blade Runner The Director’s Cut.
  • First mp3 download: “Highway Song” by Blackfoot
  • First Blu-Ray DVD: TRON: Legacy
  • First KDrama OST: Boys Before Flowers

  1. Yo, I just wanted to let you know I’m delving into your blog! YAY!

    • Raine! Thank you. I decided to join the WordPress bandwagon as it seemed easier to do than my blogspot page. I was going to ask if you could change your link, but didn’t want to presume and I knew you still had unpacking and all the rest of that stuff associated with moving. Glad you are up and running, my friend!

  2. Probably “Musings” – It sounds more intellectual, right? LOL

  3. Shuk, I have something to share with you and the rest of the WAML (aka OPPA!!) gang. Seeing that you are in VA, you may have already seen this, but it was first journey into H Mart and you could hear the squeeing from a few aisles away. Can I get a photo to you to share?

  4. Hi Shukmeister,
I really enjoyed the final recap for Heartless City. I needed drama closure!
    Thanks!!!

  5. Hi! I nominated your blog for the Liebster Award. Please follow this link for details: http://amixofanythingandeverything.wordpress.com/2014/01/21/liebster-award/

  6. Greetings!!!

I’ve nominated you for a Liebster Award! *cheers and throws confetti* Congratulations! I know you were nominated with me, but I adore you so-so-so much I had to!

Follow the link to see your questions!

  7. Shukie!
I remember you mentioning a long time ago about your fiction and a google search for my db handle led me here. Thanks to you I’m famed!

  8. Happy b-day, Shuk! Been active in Dramabeans for a while and have been reading the Open Threads lately. Didn’t know what the heck these “squeecaps” were but thanks to you now I’m hooked!

Also, we are “practically” neighbors, as I live in Woodbridge, VA right on Belmont Bay. Aren’t we lucky to live in such a beautiful state surrounded by water?

But I digress. Continue doing a great job and looking forward to more squeecaps in the future!

    • Kris –

Kamsahamnida! There were five us who met for the first time in Fredericksburg this weekend past, at a place called Choi’s Korean Kitchen. From Maryland, Staunton, Williamsburg, and Norfolk. We are hoping to try it again in the Richmond area sometime in August. I might get the word out and open to any interested parties. I like where I live: close enough to the Atlantic Ocean to minimize the snow, especially this crappy winter. LOL

      Shuk

  9. I’m sorry I missed it! Please let me know next time there’s a get-together, and I would love to attend 🙂 I hear you, this was a brutal winter, even for us. Can’t wait for the warm-up and the deluge of new dramas soon!

  10. Hi I just wanted to introduce myself as a Winter Sonata TRAGIC who stumbled onto your work today. I was about to embark on the same writing. I visited some of the locations in and around Seoul last year. Love this! Wish I could get together with similarly obsessed people in Australia!

    • Hi Carolewithan e Dent!

Sorry for the late response. RL has been kinda crazy these past months. I underwent several procedures. I traveled to Japan (saw Ji Chang-wook in concert in Osaka), and South Korea (got to wiggle my toes in the sand in Busan and play in the fountains at City Hall in Seoul), and welcomed my first great-nephew.

And finally, finally! Finished my Winter Sonata recaps.^^

      Anyway, thanks for reading!

  11. I have Lakorn related question, could I ask you? You must be able to enlighten me…

  12. I just noticed you replied to my message. I was not certain if you are still active on your blog. Great to see you here. I love your location filming article.
There are new ones now with modern design. But they still use some classic style Palace for period lakorns.

    • CM Shukmeister

Still active! And if you look below the banner, you’ll see a tab called “Lakorn Locations”. There are now 49 residence locations and seven business locations.
