LJ Entry – “Amused Musings – The Craziness Behind My Fan Fiction”

As I sucked back my Grape / Diet Dr Pepper, I was e-thumbing through the blogging opttions on my fan-fiction. I casually glanced at the statistics, did a doubletake, and focused on them. Read the rest of this entry

LJ Entry – “Confesssions of a Roundeye Cook”

What it’s supposed to look like – ^^

I admit. I like to try different foods. Mostly, I like to try different foods in restaurants. I’ll find a dish I like, then look up a recipe for it, then try to make it myself. Chicken pot pie, shepherd’s pie, butternut porridge (with sweet rice balls), bibimbap, fried rice, etc., etc.  Well, for the first time, I was inspired to make a dish I had never tried, could not find a restaurant for, nor had any ingredients I would normally have (besides rice). LJ Entry – “My Life, Continued”

So The Prince fanfic is cranking along; after two weeks, I’m at 8700 words. According to the plot in my head, I’m not quite at the quarter-mark, but it’s a good time to start adding a little darkness to the story. Read the rest of this entry

LJ Entry – “Creating a Story From Scratch”

My brain feels a bit fried these days.  I recently took it upon myself to create a story / novella based on characters and ‘virtual’ friends found at a specific blog I frequent. Now into the first 5000 words, people from all over the world have read it (and are starring in it as well). Read the rest of this entry

One of my besties, M, had breast reduction surgery to reduce down from size G to a  more manageable C.  Well, it was time to send her flowers, since she lives in San Antonio TX and I live on the East Coast.  Several of us got together to send flowers, but I decided to personalize with a Shukmeister original limerick.  It just about took the entire character limit, but everyone agreed it was unique and funny: Read the rest of this entry

LJ Entry – “Travel Prayer”

In December 2010, my choir had the honor of singing at the Vatican in Rome, Italy, which included a concert, several masses, and an audience with the Pope.  The church ordered new choir robes, and we flew out with great anticipation.  Only to find out it was going to rain the entire time we were there.  I decided to cheer everyone up by making a customized prayer before we got on the plane.  It must have worked; everybody’s spirits lifted, and the rain only fell in Rome on the one day we WEREN’T in the city.  All in all, it was a great trip. LJ Entry – “Wedding Poem”

Several months ago, I was asked to create a poem for a coworker’s daughter’s wedding.  I asked for details: how they met, colors of the wedding, etc. etc., and came up with this free-form verse.  He’s a police officer; she’s a graphic designer, and they met at the Greenbrier United Methodist Church.
